About

Ferguson St Osteo was founded in 2014 by Julie Hjorth in its original premises further down Ferguson Street. The clinic gradually grew and in August 2019 moved to the current location of 161 Ferguson St. Today the clinic has 4 osteopaths, a practice receptionist, and 4 psychologists working from the space. It’s also pretty colourful and cosy. We love it just like that.

We believe that the best healthcare comes from listening to you to fully understand the situation, working together to formulate the best plan for treatment, and educating you along the way.

We have long consults and strive to make every appointment beneficial to you.

Our goals are not just eliminating pain and restoring optimal function to the body but giving you more knowledge and tools so you can maintain your own health.

About Osteopathy

Osteopaths are allied health professionals that use manual therapy and education to relieve pain and restore mobility. We follow the philosophy of body unity, focusing on diagnosing and treating the cause of your symptoms by looking globally at the function of the musculoskeletal system. Osteopaths believe in maintaining health after the appointment, so we follow treatment with rehabilitation exercises, stress management, and lifestyle advice.

In Australia, Osteopaths complete a minimum of four and a half years at university (double bachelor’s or master’s degree) and continuous professional training throughout their careers.

Osteopaths are government-registered, hold Medicare provider numbers, and are regulated by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.

Osteopaths work primarily in private practice as well as in aged care and in sporting clubs. Consultations are subsidised by private health insurers, as well as Medicare for patients who are eligible. We work closely with other health providers to ensure you get the best health outcomes.
