The Westsider – Safe and inclusive health care is growing in the West

Trans and gender diverse (TDG) people often face stigma and inequity in our community, and healthcare settings are not exempt from discriminatory behaviour. Experiences of discrimination in health services can lead to delays in seeking care which can have detrimental effects on psychological and physical health. It is imperative that all medical and allied health clinics in Australia offer safe and inclusive care for TDG people and advocate for improved equity in our health system.

Julie worked with Dr Antje Thielhaber from the Eleanor clinic to pen an article encouraging clinics in Melbourne’s West to lead the way in inclusive practice. It was published by The Westside newspaper in August 2022.
